Highlights from the AccelerateHer Outreach 2025

In commemoration of International Women’s Day 2025, Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) held an impactful outreach in Bariga, Lagos. The AccelerateHer Outreach, held on March 22nd, empowered 50 women entrepreneurs with training and financial support needed to grow their businesses.

The outreach was themed “Accelerate HER”, and it focused on women-owned micro and small businesses, who are often overlooked for financial support.

Empowering Through Education and Support
The day was marked by dynamic sessions that equipped participants with practical knowledge and actionable strategies in areas such as:

  • Financial Literacy Training: Women received hands-on guidance on budgeting, savings, and investments. For many, it was their first introduction to financial tools that could help them track profits and plan for growth.
  • Vocational Skills Workshops: The women were taught vocational skills such as soap making, bead and bag making by seasoned facilitators. They also learnt how to source for the materials, produce the products, package the product and sell to customers. Other elements like branding and how to leverage digital platforms were also covered.
  • Micro-Grants of ₦50,000 Each: Every woman participant received a micro-grant to support her entrepreneurial journey. Whether used to restock inventory, purchase equipment, or expand reach, this capital injection was timely and catalytic.
  • Post-Event Mentorship: WIN went a step further by ensuring continued support through mentorship, business tracking, and networking opportunities, giving participants access to a thriving support system beyond the event.

Meet Our Wonderful Partners Who Helped To Make This Happen
This initiative was made possible through a strategic partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, DevGlobal, Dev-Afrique, and GTCO. Together, this coalition of public and private sector partners demonstrated the power of collaboration in addressing economic inequality and fostering inclusive growth.

The founder of Women Impacting Nigeria Adesuwa Imasekha, was duly represented at the event. Her keynote address says that:

“Financial inclusion is not just about access to capital; it’s about equipping women with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to build sustainable businesses. When women succeed economically, families and entire communities benefit.”

The participants of the outreach expressed their joy at the training and financial grant they received, sharing how this would impact their business in the future.

Even though AccelerateHer was a one-day event, WIN continues its mission to empower women across Nigeria via several initiatives, with the help of like-minded individuals and partner organizations.

To our partners and sponsors, we say a big thank you for making this event a success.
