How Tope Imasekha Is Empowering Small Business Successes for Women

Tope Imasekha, the founder of Women Impacting Nigeria, was recently spotlighted by Amaka Studio for her remarkable contributions to empowering women-owned businesses across Nigeria.

Through Women Impacting Nigeria, Tope has been at the forefront of promoting financial inclusion and autonomy. Her Widows Empowerment Initiative has provided vital support to widows and vulnerable women, offering grants to help scale their businesses and foster economic independence.

The initiative also emphasizes financial and digital literacy, equipping women from low-income communities who manage small and medium-sized enterprises with essential skills for growth.

In 2022, the Widows Empowerment Program (WEP) focused on widows and vulnerable women in Mende, Cane Village, and Maryland. WIN’s Research and Development team identified a group of cane weavers operating on a small scale due to limited access to financial resources. A financial literacy training was conducted, and five women were awarded business grants to support their enterprises.

The 2023 edition of the initiative took place on August 26 in Shomolu, Bariga, Lagos, in collaboration with the Beatrice Ado Kola-Balogun Foundation. This event continued the mission of empowering women and supporting their entrepreneurial efforts.

Tope Imasekha remains steadfast in her commitment to bridging the gender gap in Nigeria by enhancing financial inclusion for vulnerable women and girls. Her dedication is further supported by like-minded individuals and organizations, including the Beatrice Ado Kola-Balogun Foundation.
