WEP IMPACT STORY – August 2023

Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) held the 2023 Edition of its Widow’s Empowerment Program (WEP) on the 26th of August, 2022 at Bariga, Lagos State.

The Widows Empowerment Program is an initiative of WIN carried out in partnership with Beatrice Ado Kola-Balogun Foundation.

The WEP is an Initiative of WIN, targeted at widows who run business enterprises and are in need of business grants to help them grow their businesses.

This initiative of WIN is in line with SDG 1 and SD5 of eliminating poverty and promoting gender equality via financial inclusion. Over the years, quite a number of women-owned businesses and widows have been empowered with financial grants, digital skills, business management skills and tools via this initiative.

The 2023 WEP event featured financial literacy sessions, handled by seasoned facilitators. For this year’s edition of WEP, based on the needs assessment carried out, the women were given a sum of N100,000 each to help their business and overall welfare.

The beneficiaries of this edition’s WEP program are Jemilat Raji, Ayeni Mujirat, Alimot Uthman, Prisca Njoku and Moji Adedoyin.

The event recorded a great turnout by the women in the locality. The beneficiaries were ecstatic and expressed their joy at receiving the much-needed grant for their businesses. The women’s community also expressed their gratitude for the financial education they received.
