THE WOMAN KING MOVIE November 2022

Women Impacting Nigeria had a Movie Evening on 5th November, 2022. The Movie outing took place at Filmhouse Cinemas in Surulere, Lagos State.

Members of WIN’s community saw the Movie titled ‘Woman King.’

The Movie program exposed the participants  to the strengths and power possessed by every woman.

The Movie titled ‘The Woman King’ depicted women at the frontline of major events in the ancient Kingdom of Dahomey, in what is now the country of Benin in West Africa.

It was a thought-provoking and inspiring program, and it further established the fact that gender is neither a limitation or disadvantage as women are both mentally and emotionally strong.

The Movie also made us privy to how society felt that being oppressed was an intrinsic part of being a woman. The inequalities faced by the women in the movie do indeed reflect the struggles that women today face.

It was also inspiring to see an all-female army led by a strong woman.

Through the movie, more stories are being told about West Africa for global audiences, and this will positively impact the Socio-Economic development of the African continent.

At WIN, we believe that a woman’s perception of herself and her strengths goes a long way to determine her productivity and contribution to the society.

The Movie event therefore was held, not for the purpose of mere entertainment, but to instill a can-do, never-give-up and resilient attitude in the minds of the beneficiaries, by giving them the right perception of a woman’s strength.

WIN continues to work towards a gender equitable Nigeria, and it welcomes sponsors and partners who carry a vision to make Nigeria a better place for women to live in.
